It is with deep sadness and a sense of loss that we report the passing of a former NJ CAR Trustee, Eugene Meyers. Gene, a resident of Hawthorne for the past 65 years and a Korean War veteran, is survived by his wife Florence, son Mark, daughter Cynthia Nicols, stepchildren Steven, Ronald and Scott, sister Alice Meyers of Levittown, New York and 8 grandchildren. An active member of his community, Gene was the first and past president of the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce, the Hawthorne Boys & Girls Club and the Tri-State Chevy Dealer Group. He was also a member of the Hawthorne-Ramsey Fortitude Lodge in Ramsey and the Shriner’s in Livingston, the American Legion Post 199 in Hawthorne and the Moose Club in Clifton. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Hawthorne Boys & Girls Club.
