Following last week’s testimony before the Assembly Transportation Committee, NJ CAR President Laura Perrotta, today, testified in front of the Assembly Appropriations Committee in support of Assembly bill A4050.
This important legislation would create a provisional dealer license and provide common sense-relief to franchised dealers facing minor issues when processing license applications. Additionally, it would offer more flexibility regarding where dealers place their service locations.
A4050 was voted out of Committee and now awaits a vote in front of the full Assembly. NJ CAR will keep pushing for passage of this important legislation, and will continue updating members on its progress
Background on A4050
A4050 will help dealers by:
- Creating flexibility regarding the location of service facilities, which is desperately needed in our densely populated state.
- Providing two additional options for the location of service facilities (using a separate building on the same lot or using an offsite facility within the regional market area (RMA) of the dealership).
- Addressing unnecessary minor delays in the issuance of dealer licenses by authorizing the MVC Chief Administrator to issue a 90-day provisional license when the application is substantially completed and is only awaiting the receipt of a pending item.
