Jul 31, 2025

On July 29th, NJ CAR proudly held a joint media event with the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJDOL) to celebrate the Pre-Apprenticeship in Career Education (PACE) Grant that was awarded to NJ CAR for its outstanding Technician Advancement Program (TAP).

This $664,500 grant will help grow and advance TAP to fill the need for automotive technicians in New Jersey and marks a significant step forward in NJ CAR’s mission to address the critical technician shortage to strengthen New Jersey’s automotive workforce.

With this grant, NJ CAR can enhance TAP by improving instructor training; expanding partnerships with new car dealerships in New Jersey; increase digital outreach; and advance our community engagement efforts.

Ultimately, the PACE grant will enable NJ CAR to scale TAP to help individuals transition into high-quality careers as automotive technicians.

NJ CAR would like to thank Honda of Toms River for hosting this great event and the Coalition’s newest TAP class.

Speakers at the event included NJDOL Commissioner Robert Asaro-AngeloAssemblywoman Tennille R. McCoy, NJ CAR Chairman Ron Baus, Executive Vice President at Honda of Toms River Anton Semprivivo, NJ CAR President Laura Perrotta, and NJ CAR Workforce Development Manager & TAP Coordinator Brandon Jurakhan.
