Some Proposals May Impact Access To Local Motor Vehicle Agencies
Governor Chris Christie’s proposed $29.3 Billion budget cuts spending across virtually every State Department and Agency. An early analysis of the proposals shows that access to local Motor Vehicle Agencies may be impacted. According to the Governor’s proposed budget, three or four of operation agencies would be closed by January 2011, but the locals have not yet been determined. Hours will be modified, with availability eliminated on Mondays and extended from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Other proposals impacting Motor Vehicle inspections include going to a five-year emissions inspection for new vehicles and, possibly, eliminating safety tests.
