NJ CAR was informed, over the weekend, by the Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) that Year 3 of the Charge Up New Jersey EV Incentive Program is closing soon (possibly as early as tonight).
According to the Charge Up New Jersey website, the $60 million allocated for Charge Up New Jersey for fiscal years 2022-23 is drawing near an end (with approximately $6 million remaining as of April 3, 2023). They advised that they expected to send participating dealers a 24-hour notice of program closure on Sunday. However, NJ CAR hasn’t received confirmation of this from CSE and the Charge Up New Jersey website does NOT contain a closing date as if 12:00 Noon today (Monday, April 17, 2023).
NJ CAR will provide dealers with an update when we have confirmed the details.
Keep in mind, any eligible electric vehicles ordered, purchased or leased on or before the announced closing date will qualify for a rebate. Dealerships will have 14 days to submit paperwork after that date.
We encourage all applicants to submit their rebate forms as soon as possible so that funds can be reserved.
Stay tuned for updated information.
