NJ CAR Members Raise $50,000 For MADD

Feb 16, 2006

With $50,000 raised, the NJ CAR-organized Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) NJ 2005 “Tie One on for Safety” Campaign was a tremendous success. The campaign was officially kicked off on Thursday, September 22, at a State House press conference with Acting Governor Richard Codey, who joined representatives from MADD, NJ CAR and participating dealerships. The program ran from October 1 through the end of the year. All told, 62 dealerships participated in the 2005 program. Participants committed to make a donation for every new and used car sold between October 1 and December 31, 2005. These dealerships also distributed Tie One on for Safety ribbons to anyone who requested one. The ribbons signify an individual’s commitment to not drink and drive and to always wear their seatbelt. The Tie One on for Safety Campaign, one of MADD’s longest running programs, provided an excellent opportunity for dealerships to show their community support in a very visible way, while also raising funds for MADD NJ and public awareness about the issues of drunk driving and seatbelt use. NJ CAR and MADD would, again, like to thank all participating dealerships.
