Richard A. DeSilva Assumes NJ CAR Chairmanship

Richard A. DeSilva, dealer principal of Liberty Subaru in Oradell and Liberty Hyundai in Mahwah, New Jersey, assumed the NJ CAR Chairmanship, effective November 1, 2005.He succeeds James V. Tino, Jr.Rick is a 30+ year veteran of the retail automotive industry in New Jersey and joined the NJ CAR Executive Committee in 2001 as Regional Vice President of Northern Region I.He has since served in the positions of Treasurer, Secretary and Vice Chairman. Rick is a past board member of the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) and past chairman of the Subaru National Dealer Advisory Board.He has also been a member of the Subaru Chairman’s roundtable for more than a decade. At the NJ CAR Annual Meeting & Business Expo 2005, Rick discussed his goal to re-invigorate dealership participation in the Coalition to ensure its strength in the years ahead.A transcript of Rick’s Annual Meeting comments is attached to this issue of the NewsLetter. Rick graduated from Bowling Green State University and lives in Mahwah, NJ, with his wife Wendy.His two sons, Rick, Jr. and Mike, run the Liberty Hyundai dealership. Also named as officers for the 2005-2006 association year are: Vice Chairman Robert L. DeFelice (Circle Chevrolet Company, Shrewsbury), Secretary Eric Nielsen (Dover Dodge, Rockaway), and Treasurer Alvin Konner (Konner Chevrolet, West Caldwell).
