NJ CAR is proud to announce that Eric Nielsen, the Dealer Principal of Dover Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Inc., was named one of five regional finalists for the 2019 TIME Dealer of the Year award at the NADA Show in San Francisco, California. This is the sixth time in the past 15 years a New Jersey dealer has been recognized center-stage at the TIME Dealer of the Year Award Presentation with Eric (following Chip Miller in 2011, David Sickel in 2009, David Wintrode in 2007, David Long in 2006 and Shau-Wai Lam in 2004.) As a finalist, Ally will donate a total of $6,000 to the charity(ies) of Eric’s choice.

The TIME Dealer of the Year Award, which is sponsored by TIME Magazine, in association with Ally, and in cooperation with the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) is one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious and highly coveted awards for new-car dealers. The award honors new-car dealers throughout the United States who exhibit exceptional performance in their dealerships, combined with distinguished community service.

Eric was chosen to represent New Jersey in the national competition, one of only 52 automobile dealers nominated for award, A panel of faculty members from the Tauber Institute for Global Operations at the University of Michigan selects one finalist from each of the four NADA regions and one national Dealer of the Year.

Eric started his career in auto retailing as a part-time lot employee in the late 1970’s, while attending Technical School. With an incredible work ethic, he advanced through the ranks and, in 1982, became the Dealer Principal of Dover Chrysler Plymouth. He hasn’t looked back in the last 35 years, adding Dover Dodge, Franklin Sussex Auto Mall, Franklin Sussex Hyundai, Nielsen Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, Nielsen Chevrolet and Nielsen Ford to his portfolio of dealerships.

Beyond his considerable business success, Eric demonstrates the generosity of those in the auto retailing industry, always ready to help an individual or an organization in need. He supports many charities, including the March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society, as well as many local schools and hospitals.

Eric has also shown his commitment to the New Jersey auto retailing community serving, not one, but two terms as NJ CAR Chairman, one of only a handful of individuals to do so in our 100-year history.

Please join NJ CAR in congratulating Eric Nielsen for representing our organization and our State so well in the recent competition.
