Stop FMLA & ADA Abuse-Don’t Miss NJ CAR’s Employment Law Workshop

NJ CAR will be hosting an Employment Law Workshop on October 12, 2017, at the Holiday Inn in Clark (36 Valley Road, Clark, NJ 07066- Exit 135 off the Garden State Parkway). The half-day Workshop is presented by Sprague Operating Resources and NJ CAR Services and features Dina Mastelone, Esq. from Genova Burns Attorneys At Law. The Workshop will run from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM and costs only $129 per person for NJ CAR Dealer Members.

Learn how to identify FMLA & ADA abuse and what you can do about it. Are you confronted with any of the following:

•Fake doctor’s notes?•Migraines that only occur on Mondays?•Caregiving that is only needed on Fridays?•Employees who continue to ask for extensions for their leave of absence?

It is incredibly frustrating and difficult dealing with nebulous employee Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) issues. This half-day Workshop will help you navigate the complex landscape of leave laws and provide comprehensive training on the Do’s and Don’ts under the FMLA and ADA. Through both hypothetical and real-life examples, attendees will gain a better understanding of the administration and compliance with leave laws in order to avoid costly claims and litigation by employees.

NJ CAR Motor Vehicle Title Clerk Training

Individuals who successfully complete the NJ CAR Motor Vehicle Title Clerk Certification Program will have a working knowledge of New Jersey Motor Vehicle documents and procedures. Although the course has been designed for New Jersey Title Clerks, the Program is extremely valuable to Office Managers, Controllers, and anyone else who provides support to the Title Clerk position. The course curriculum is based on NJ CAR’s Motor Vehicle Training & Reference Manual. Individuals who attend the entire Program and complete testing receive NJ CAR’s Certification. Topics covered include:

?New Jersey Identification Information;?General Title Procedures; ?Lien Information and Select Title Transactions; ?Corrections and Centrally-Processed Transactions; ?Power of Attorney Forms; ?Odometer Disclosure; ?Registrations; ?Special Plates; ?Dealer Temporary Tags; ?Preparation of Documents; ?New Jersey Sales & Use Tax; and?Business License Services and New Jersey Motor Vehicle Fees.

The Motor Vehicle Title Clerk Certification Program will be held each day from 8:30 AM until 4 PM (breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided). The course will be held October 16-18, 2017 at NJ CAR Headquarters (856 River Road, Ewing, NJ 08628). The three-day Program costs only $449 per person and includes all required materials (including a copy of the most recent NJ CAR Motor Vehicle Training & Reference Manual).

Don’t Miss NJ CAR’s FREE Legal WorkshopFor Dealer Principals & General Managers

NJ CAR will be hosting a comprehensive, FREE Legal Workshop on October 17, 2017 at Forsgate Country Club in Jamesburg (375 Forsgate Drive, Jamesburg, NJ 08831- Exit 8A off the New Jersey Turnpike). The workshop is presented by NJ CAR Services, Inc., American Fidelity Assurance Company, M&T Bank, Sprague Operating Resources and Valley National Bank and runs from 9:15 AM until 2:00 PM.

The information-packed agenda is as follows:

9:15 AM – 10:30 AM CURRENT REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE ISSUES AFFECTING NEW CAR DEALERS

This panel discussion addresses the proliferation of unlicensed dealer activity and current enforcement activities and compliance concerns. The panel will include Cindy Miller, Esq., Deputy Director, of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Raymond P. Martinez, Chairman and Chief Administrator, of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission and Jim Appleton, President, NJ CAR.

10:45 AM – 12:00 PM LITIGATION UPDATE – “WHAT’S HOT…WHAT’S NOT”

This panel includes Marvin Brauth, Esq., Wilentz Goldman & Spitzer, P.A. and Eric Chase, Esq., Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. and will address current litigation hot topics affecting new car dealers.

12:45 PM – 2:00 PM “THE ART OF THE DEAL”

The final panel of the day will include a discussion on what franchises are currently selling and how to structure a Buy/Sell agreement to protect the buying and selling dealerships.
