DOT Hazardous Material Certification Training& New OSHA Requirements Seminar – April 26, 2016

Tom Grenci, President, and Scott Hubbard, Compliance Manager, for Environmental Compliance Monitoring, Inc. (ECM), will host this very informative full-day Seminar that will cover several new and revised Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) issues, and provide federal Department of Transportation (DOT) HazMat Certification for attendees.

The first half of the Seminar will focus on OSHA’s revised chemical Hazard Communication requirements under the new Global Harmonization System (GHS), which take effect on June 16, 2016, as well as, the Administration’s revised recordkeeping rules. The Seminar will cover the GHS compliant labels and new, mandatory 16-section safety data sheets (SDSs). The OSHA-related section of the Seminar will also cover updated recordkeeping requirements dealers must be aware of regarding work-related injuries and illnesses.

The second half of the Seminar will focus on the DOT’s HazMat Certification. Learn what training is required by federal and State regulations applicable to dealerships. All attendees will receive their DOT HazMat Certificate. Seminar topics include: recordkeeping requirements; what hazardous materials are regulated; determining the hazard class and packing group; packaging, including proper marking and labeling; emergency information required with shipments; security issues; and much more.

The federal Hazardous Materials Law was developed to protect against the risks inherent in the transportation of hazardous materials. The federal DOT requires any employer meeting the definition of a hazardous material shipper to provide HazMat training to any employee responsible for the shipping of hazardous materials. The HazMat Training includes topics such as: general awareness and familiarization, function-specific criteria, security and safety. This Seminar will satisfy the federal DOT’s initial and three-year refresher training requirements for HazMat Certification.

The Seminar costs $229 per person (NJ CAR Dealer Members) and will be held from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at NJ CAR Headquarters (856 River Road, West Trenton, New Jersey 08628).
