Cumberland Dealers Band Together to Support Education

A group of nine Cumberland County auto retailers have committed to raising $100,000 over the next five years to help fund the School Counts! scholarship program at Cumberland County College.The dealerships will donate a set amount for every new or used vehicle they sell and give the buyer a chance to also contribute to the program at the time of purchase. Participating Cumberland County dealerships include: Chapman Ford/Lincoln-Mercury; Joseph Pontiac/GMC/Buick; Lilliston Ford and Lilliston Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep; Bob Novick GM/Chrysler; Quality Lincoln-Mercury/Hyundai; Rossi Honda; Team Nissan; and Vann Dodge/ Chrysler/Jeep. The program is open to all Cumberland County high-school students.They can earn certificates by attending school regularly, achieving above-average grades, exceeding minimum graduation requirements and graduating on time.All Cumberland County students who earn four consecutive certificates will be eligible for a two-year tuition scholarship to Cumberland County College.More than 180 students are on track to be eligible for the first scholarships, which will be awarded in 2005.
