Feb 08, 2008

Governor Jon Corzine has nominated an experienced federal and State criminal prosecutor to head the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. Acting on a recommendation by Attorney General Anne Milgram, the Governor has nominated David Szuchman, who is currently senior counsel in New York Governor Eliot Spitzer’s office, and has been an assistant attorney general in New York, a trial attorney in the criminal division of the U.S. Justice Department and an assistant district attorney in Manhattan.

The Division of Consumer Affairs is the lead agency charged with protecting consumer rights and regulating more than 40 professional boards.

There has been an Acting Director of this important department for more than a year. A confirmed Director, whomever it ends up being, will bring stability to this division in the Department of Law & Public Safety.
